1.Carbon Neutral and Carbon Trading Policies
Governments are accelerating the promotion of carbon neutrality and the carbon trading market is gradually improving. China has released a “dual carbon” strategic plan, the U.S. has provided green subsidies through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and the EU has implemented the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which affects the global industrial chain. SAMA will help members to analyze carbon trading rules and optimize the path of low-carbon transition.
2.Renewable Energy Subsidies and Incentives
Countries have introduced policies to support the development of renewable energy such as wind and solar, such as the European Union’s Green Deal, the U.S. Clean Power Plan, and China’s 14th Five-Year Plan, all of which involve incentives for investment in renewable energy, tax incentives, and green financing opportunities. SAMA will help enterprises to connect with policy resources and promote the landing of clean energy projects.
3.Green Building and Energy Saving Standards
The global building industry is facing the challenge of carbon emission reduction, and green building certifications (LEED, BREEAM, WELL, etc.) are attracting increasing attention. Many countries have updated their building energy efficiency standards and increased the proportion of renewable energy applications, and SAMA will facilitate industry cooperation, promote green building technologies and facilitate the implementation of policies.
4.Circular Economy and Green Manufacturing
The EU Circular Economy Action Plan promotes waste reuse and environmental product design, and China has introduced a pilot policy of “waste-free cities” to support resource recycling and green manufacturing; SAMA will organize enterprises to participate in circular economy projects and provide technical guidance and policy interpretation.
5.Environmental Regulations and ESG Supervision
ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) disclosure has become the focus of corporate compliance, and the European Union’s Sustainable Financial Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), the U.S. SEC’s proposed ESG disclosure rules, and China’s ESG guidelines have promoted corporate transparency.SAMA will help its members to improve their ESG management capabilities and comply with international green investment standards.
