Conference Summary

The 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) is taking place in Dubai, UAE, focusing on the goals of the Paris Agreement, the global energy transition, climate finance mobilization, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Governments, businesses, NGOs and experts discuss how to accelerate carbon emissions reduction, improve climate resilience, and advance global climate governance.

Response and Action

SAMA Green Creation International is actively following the COP28 conference and adjusting its strategy based on the conference content to promote green technology and sustainable development: supporting enterprises and members to participate in carbon-neutral projects and accelerating the application of renewable energy. Organize relevant seminars to analyze the impact of COP28 policies on the green industry and provide policy interpretation and suggestions to members. Strengthen cooperation with international environmental organizations to promote low-carbon projects worldwide.

Major Achievements

First Global Stocktake (GST): Assessed the implementation of the Paris Agreement, found that the current global emission reduction is still insufficient, and urged countries to strengthen climate action. Fossil Fuel Reduction Commitment: Many countries have committed to gradually reduce the use of fossil fuels, promote the development of renewable energy, and increase investment in low-carbon technologies. Breakthrough in Climate Finance: Establishment of the “Loss and Damage Fund” to provide financial support to developing countries most affected by climate change. Methane Reduction Initiative: Countries commit to more stringent measures to reduce methane emissions and improve the sustainability of the agriculture and energy sectors. Climate Adaptation Programs: Countries are urged to strengthen policies to adapt to climate change, increase the resilience of urban infrastructure, and support sustainable agriculture.
Based on the outcome of COP28, SAMA will further promote green technology innovation, policy advocacy and international cooperation to ensure the effective implementation of the SDGs.
